Videos help clarify road rules
Our playlist of 10 animations explains some of the most misunderstood road rules. You can also watch the videos separately, starting with Roundabouts.
Know the rules
Since 2013, Road Rules Awareness Week has given all road users – drivers, pedestrians, motorcyclists, passengers and bicycle riders – the chance to improve their knowledge of the NSW road rules.
We promote the rules that have the biggest impact on reducing road trauma, highlight the most misunderstood road rules, and provide an opportunity for road users to have their questions answered.
You can read more about our commitment to improving safety on the state's roads on the Towards Zero website, and find graphics, quizzes and animations posted on the NSW Road Safety Facebook page.
Misunderstood rules
Our video animations and Top 10 misunderstood road rules in NSW guide outline the road rules most commonly misunderstood by road users.
They provide simple answers to many road rule questions, including using roundabouts, when you can and can't use high-beam and fog lights, and when it is permitted to make a U-turn. The guide is also available at Service NSW centres.
Road users can also visit the Transport for NSW website to view more information on road rules and the NSW Government website for the NSW Road Users' Handbook.
